Students completed a discussion topic on NiceNet. The post should be added to student blogs.

Students will update their blogs which will be checked Friday for the quarter. Students should currently have eight (8) NiceNet posts and fifteen (15) writing assignments from the literature textbook and other class assignments.

Students spent the remainder of class time conducting research for their projects which are due May 15, 2007.

Students will read chapters 6 and 7 of When Rain Clouds Gather and complete characterization charts.

Students will work in Wordskills vocabulary workbooks - analogies, context clues.

Students completed their assignment from yesterday (researching women in Botswana). Students then read Chapter 5 of When Rain Clouds Gather. Blogs were updated for weekly grading.

Remember FCAT Testing Monday and Tuesday - February 26 & 27. Get plenty of rest the night before testing; eat breakfast the morning of testing and take your time! I believe in you - you will all do well!!!

Students complete a crosscurricular activity in connection with the novel When Rain Clouds Gather. Research was conducted on the conditions and concerns of women in Botswana, Africa. This information was summarized into a three paragraph written response and added to students' blogs.

Students read chapter 4 for the remainder of the class time.

Students then read When Rain Clouds Gather, chapters 1 and 2.

Students completed a characterization chart ofr a selected character in the book.

1. Students read pages 486-506 in the literature textbook and completed the Thinking Through the Literature questions on page 506. The assignment will be placed on the blogs at a later date.
2. Students should complete Writing Options number 1 ob page 507. Students will create their own "Pillow Book" with will be due Friday, February 23. This book will follow the guidelines given in the literature textbook.
3. Students spent the remainder of class time writing anecdotes for their Pillow Books.

2. Students then completed the Thinking Through the Literature questions on page 470. This assignment should be placed on their blogs. Title the post: Japanese Poetry.
3. Students completed grammar exercies in the Writing & Grammar workbook, pages 41-44 (subject/verb agreement)
4. Students spent the remainder of class searching for books to be used as sources for their research projects.

We completed the reading of Oedipus Rex and discussed the theme of the play as well as plot structure. This took most of the class time. For the remaining twelve minutes we answered the Pause and Reflect questions and the Thinking Through the Literature questions found within the play. These will be added to the class blog tomorrow.

1. Select one of the essays to read from the front table. Read the essay and determine why the essay recieved the assigned score. (use the FCAT writing rubric to assist you.

2. Writing Workshop: We will examine essays written in this class and determine ways of making them fit the criteria of a 6 on the FCAT Rubric.

3. The remainder of class time will be spent working on incomplete assignments.
